Riki and Fuji from Ginga Nagareboshi Gin- serie (c: Yoshihiro Takahashi).
I really really like these two and in my opinion it's kind of sad that there is so little of Fuji in the serie.. But it leaves more room for my imagination.

I've wondered that how Fuji never ever heard Riki howling. I pretty much think that he have very strong and loud howl and well.. Dogs can hear better than we humans so in my opinion it's just logical that Fuji in fact did hear Rikis voice.
That made me have this idea that Fuji heard Riki howling and thought that she must be hallucinating since he's dead but couldn't keep herself from howling back at that familiar voice of him. Riki who had lost his memory heard her but couldn't recognize her voice.

Maybe later when Gin and others from Rikis pack left to search dogs from other places in Japan they made habit out of it; Calling for each others and also for Fuji to ease her longing and for Riki to get strength to fight the bears.
Daisuke and his family instead just thought that always so calm Fuji was missing Gin who had run away and tried to call him back home.

Yeah so just had some fun with my imagination. ^^

Yeah, this is probably one of the biggest heart throbs for me in the series for some reason, the fact that Fuji never saw him throughout the entire anime and never knew he was alive. I wish they could have had at least one moment together in the series.

Yeah I second that. At least for the final fight with akakabuto... It would have been so heart breaking (in a good way!) if Gohei would have brought Fuji with him and Fuji would have had an opportunity to say her last goodbyes to Riki. ;_;
